Big Bear Valley Trails Foundation

Projects

What we’re working on:

Build New Trails

Skyline Trail: Develop a new singletrack trail that stretches from Bear Mountain to the Big Bear Dam. Currently in the NEPA clearance stage, which includes a Categorical Exclusion and public notification.  This will be drafted with support from the National Forest.  Public notification will take place after the CE is completed.

Maintain Current Trails

Organize monthly maintenance days on local trails. See the calendar for future trail work days.

Encourage Use Of Trails

What we’ve done:

  • Developed an initial Valley-wide Master Plan of Type 1, 2, and 3 multi-use trails
  • Facilitated the installation of 26 “Share the Road” signs around the Big Bear Lake perimeter
  • Completed a network of official Type 3 bicycle routes in the City of Big Bear Lake, including unique signage and guide map
  • Completed a signed Type 3 bicycle route through Big Bear City and across the East end of the Valley
  • Worked with the  Forest Service to reopen and rehabilitate the 7 Oaks Trail.
